What do Thoughts + Herding Sheep Have in Common?

As much as we would like to sometimes, we can't control our children, spouse, family, etc.

The reality is that people get to be and do them.

When you're thinking about what others "should" or "shouldn't" be doing, it's not a good use of your time or energy.

I like to compare those thoughts to herding sheep.

The thoughts are the sheep, and the thinker of those thoughts is the sheepdog.

First, I recognize that my thoughts are spinning out and creating feelings of helplessness, annoyance, etc.

And then I remind myself that I'm creating unnecessary drama for myself. I am creating my emotions.

The only thing you ever have control over is yourself.

How can you decide to consistently only focus on that?

Truly recognize that this is where your power is.

You're the sheepdog (thinker), not the sheep (thoughts).
