Feng Shui + The Bagua

Hi Friends!

For those of you whodon’t know a whole lot about Feng Shui, I wanted to give some insight into avery important tool called the Bagua. In order to begin to understand Feng Shuiyou need to know the Bagua.

I am happy to havecreated a personal one that you can use as a guide, and really an energy map,of your home or office space.

Translated literally the Bagua means eight symbolsin Chinese and is often referred to as the eight trigrams in English.

To define these trigrams or areas you will need totake a compass reading of your front door. In order to get this reading, standoutside your front door while holding the compass in front of you, flat in yourhand as if it were on a table.

Your front door is where energy or chi enters yourspace and nourishes it, which is why it is called the facing direction.

Each section of the Bagua represents a life sectorand is represented by the five elements.

The elements are water, earth, wood, fire andmetal.

These elements are “generally” what is needed ineach area.

I say “generally’” because in Classical ChineseFeng Shui there is also something called the yearly flying stars.

Depending on the year, some areas may beafflicted. Instead of activating the area by giving it it’s needed element, youwould want to mitigate the energy by adding the element that controls it.

For example, this year the South is afflicted bythe 2-illness star. Instead of adding fire by adding fire colors or addingcandles, you would add metal here. This is because the 2 star is represented byearth and metal contains earth.

Therefore, Feng Shui shouldn’t be done haphazardlyas this can create more harm than good.

Sometimes you just need to hire a professional…

But I digress!

Once you know your facing direction, you can thenlay the Bagua accordingly over your space.

If you can get a floor plan that is ideal. If not,you can always draw one as well.

This will hopefully give you all a little moreclarity and know what to look for in each area of your home or office spaces.

In my next post I will dive more into the colorsand elements and how you can apply them.

Have a wonderful day!
